Student Finance In Gloucestershire To Undergo Major Changes

Fri, 23 Jan 2009

Students from Gloucestershire entering higher education from September 2009 face major changes to the way they can apply for student finance grants .

The Gloucestershire County Council is no longer responsible for the administration of applications for higher education financial support for students living in the county. Instead, students starting courses from September 2009 onwards will now have to apply to a new centralised body known as Student Finance England .

Those who have already started their course or plan to enrol before September 2009 will continue to have their financial support assessed by the county council for both 2009/10 and 2010/11 academic years.

For courses that complete after 2011, the administration of support will automatically transfer to Student Finance England .

Councillor Joan Nash, Cabinet Member for Schools, commented: "I hope that students think carefully about their finances for the next stage of their education and make sure that they make applications for help to Student Finance England in good time."

Further information regarding eligibility, amounts of entitlement or advice on filling in application forms is available online at studentfinanceengland.co.uk, or by phoning 08456 077 577.
