Singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding says she doesn’t have the money to pay her student loans off.
The BRITS winner is in the Top 10 charts with her single Starry Eyed and her debut album, Lights is expected to storm the charts, this week.
Winning the Critic’s Choice award at the BRITS she also topped the BBC Sound of 2010 poll in January.
Even with her apparent success Ellie, 23, says she has yet to reap the rewards of her success. Ellie dropped out of university to pursue a career in music .
Ellie said, "Sorry student loan company I am going to pay it back in one big lump when I have enough money.
"All students try to get as much as they can because they are all so poor at uni. If you get a few hundred pounds for a week because your student loan hasn't come through, they don't give you a degree unless you've paid that money back.
"How silly is that? So if I had graduated I probably wouldn't have been able to get a degree because I still owe them money.
"They can wait a little bit longer. I don't owe them that much, about £7,000."
Still coming to terms with her BRIT award early in her career she broke down when she received the news which was during a Vogue fashion shoot with Marina and the Diamonds .
She said, "I literally cried because I had no idea. I had heard a rumour that I was nominated but when I found out I couldn't believe it.
Ellie will appear in Vogue this month. She added: "I am the next big thing according to everyone - so there is no pressure there!
"Things couldn't have gone any better for me and I feel so lucky that I have got such a great team."
