Young Brits planning on moving into private or university accommodation should think about insurance as part of their student finance considerations.
According to Cashquestions.com, students have to review their situation and decide what is right for them based on their own circumstances.
Director Annie Shaw explained that each person's situation is different and noted that those moving into the halls of residence may already have cover provided for them.
"Many will cover you for all sorts of things - fire [and/or] theft [for example]," she explained.
"If you do have the benefit of halls of residence cover, check what the terms and conditions are, because quite often you'll get some general insurance policy [and] it may not cover you for certain things, so things of high value, or laptops, you may need to insure separately."
The expert added that the cost of replacing individual items should be weighed up against the price of the insurance to work out whether it is worthwhile investing in a policy.
