A group of youngsters in Bedford have been offered advice about university life and student finance at an event held at the town's Corn Exchange building.
More than 300 teenagers were in attendance, along with parents, teachers and careers advisors earlier this week for the question-and-answer session, reports Bedford Today.
Year 13 students from across the borough heard from Les Ebdon, vice-chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, and a spokesman from Student Finance England.
Lal Joshy, the university's head of student recruitment, highlighted a common misconception among young people regarding the new fees ser-up and the impact it will have on learners.
"Speaking to parents afterwards they said they understood the situation better and that the situation was not as bad as had been portrayed," the speaker commented.
This comes after the Higher Education Funding Council for England suggested students are likely to experience more financial pressures depending on which country of the UK they live in.
Next years, undergraduates from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are set to experience different tuition cost arrangements from next year.
