> University Top Up Fees
Tony Blair is in the commons today, defending Top up fees, this is a last minute attempt to swing the Commons to accept the fees that could be as much as £3,000 per year.
Tony Blair is expected to be discussing some of the benefits of introducing these fees, and also quelling fears that this is going to be the beginning of an elitist higher education system. Issues discussed should range from; how can students cope with higher debts (estimated at over £20,000) upon graduation to the re-introduction of maintenance grants for students from poorer backgrounds.
The Prime Minister has announced that he can see no other way to solve the under funding of universities, and that top up fees will be introduced.
