Student Finance Northern Ireland

Student finance matters for those living in Northern Ireland , Scotland and Wales , and studying anywhere in the UK , are dealt with by local authorities.

Although the Student Loans Company (SLC) provide financial services to students in colleges and universities across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, other means of finance such as bursaries and grants, along with course tuition fees, may differ for students living outside of England.

The amount charged may also vary between courses, as well as between places of study. Therefore, it is important for students to check the UCAS website – www.ucas.co.uk - or their university / college’s prospectus for more information. It is expected that the amount will increase each year in line with the rate of inflation.

Universities and colleges of higher education in Northern Ireland , Wales and England can now charge up to £3,145 a year for course tuition fees for new students. However, students in Scotland entering higher education in the 08/09 academic year have different fee arrangements.
